As a pizza-loving vegetarian, I've been trying to convince Seattle's upscale pizzerias to offer local Field Roast, vegan "sausage", as a faux meat topping option with no success. However, a chance meeting at Herkimer Coffee with food blogger Orangette and co-owner of renowned Ballard pizza joint, Delancey led to success tonight. Orangette (aka Molly Wizenberg) suggested I bring my own "sausage" for them to add to my pizza and that it might turn them on to adding it to the menu. So, finally, tonight, we did.
I brought two links of Apple Sage Field Roast in a brown paper bag - one for our pizza and one for the staff. We ordered a Margherita with slow roasted tomatoes and our Field Roast. Yum.
Btw, The New York Times describes Delancey as "a chic yet unassuming pizzeria whose décor makes you feel as if you’ve walked into your hipster neighbor’s dining room midmeal" ... and apparently open minded and eager to please. Thanks Molly & Delancey staff!
Hey Jeff, I work for Field Roast and this showed up on our Google Newsfeed today. Thanks for spreading the word. The pizza looks great! We love it when pizza places add us to their menu.
